Young dreamer Marisol Valencia resides with her mother and grandparents in the small town of San Pedro in the Philippine island. During the yearly Sampaguita festival, Marisol's mother Claudette finally unveils the truth about her past with Marisol's father Lorenzo, who immigrated to the United States after serving in the U.S Navy. While attempting resolutions, Marisol and Claudette discover a deeper meaning of acceptance, forgiveness, and family.
